I Hate November Project

My new and exciting "I Hate November" project has begun. What is this, you ask? It's an exciting new novel written in daily (or regular) installments online for your reading pleasure. The title is "Rend the Heavens", which my relatives seem to think is going to make for a steamy romance novel, but unfortunately for you, my friends, that is a quote from the Bible. No steam. Just random fiction. If it really sucks, I'll either quit or make it a private blog. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments. Oh! It will be located at: emwrites.blogspot.com
Enjoy!

You gotta give a little....

So I found a spreadsheet that is supposed to help one set up a personal budget. There are categories on it for pretty much everything one might spend money on, from garden supplies to home security. But there was no line anywhere for charitable giving! The budget clearly said that it is important to save money for yourself (as much as possible) and to record every penny you spend, but still, no charity/religious category.
I really think there's trouble here in River City.

Road Rage

After doing lots of driving this week, I have decided that a lot of people need to take driver's ed again. Let me count the whys...
1. They do not realize that it is a bad idea to try and change lanes by passing someone on the right and proceeding to cut left across two lanes of traffic...when traffic is stopped bumper to bumper.
2. They have forgotten how to turn a corner. The key word here is corner, I'm sick of the diagonal slide.
3. They seem to think that it is a good idea to drive so close behind a semi truck that there is no way the driver of said truck can see them and also don't seem to realize that if the truck driver touches his brakes the family van will soon be a firey inferno.
OK, I could go on all day, but perhaps I'll leave it at that and add another installment later on.

Mambo!

Just watched Mambo Italiano, cute movie, they got the Montreal Italian accents pretty much down. But the best part was when the main character went to my all-time favourite gay village cheesecake/coffeebar place where I always used to go to read. That place was the best. Next time I'm in Montreal we're going, Jen.

News and Other Stuff

Yes, it is true I am going to Egypt to visit Meg in December. Today, though, was a Buffy fest. I watched stupid amounts of season 2, plus the movie. And I crocheted a hat. All round fun.

Flying Free

....or cheaply. Does anyone know of a good comparison-shop website for plane tickets? I'm looking for a cheap ticket to Cairo. Soon-to-expire travel vouchers accepted as donations also.

Turkey Lurkey Time

The family is descending for the weekend...Steve has already arrived, parents and other brother tomorrow plus various strays on Sunday for Thanksgiving supper. I even have a pretty paper turkey I made for my door. I spend a lot of time with children. Frightening newsflash: I have to preach my first ever sermon next Sunday. I hope I'm not boring. Nothing worse than a boring sermon.

I am being shamed for not writing in my blog, but I actually emailed some people this month, which might be a record! (I'm not sure what kind of record...)
Did the Run (aka walk) for the Cure yesterday. A lady from my church was recently diagnosed with breast cancer so there were lots of people there to support her. I was walking along with Chris, one of the deacons from my church and we were talking about bad courses from university. I happened to mention that course I skipped every Tuesday to watch Buffy at David's place and he was like, "oooh, have you seen Joss Whedon's other series, Firefly?" Ah, kindred spirits. So then we had plenty to chat about for the next four kilometres!
My youth group ran a fundraising lunch after church and made over $500. Not too shabby considering how easy it was. They're really nice kids and none of them are slackers, so that made it easy.
Parents are coming for Turkey Lurkey Time next weekend, weird to be hosting, but I hear rumours that raspberry pie is coming with them, so that makes it all ok.
So there you have it, my not very exciting life.
I'm going back to bed now.
